Milicic begins 2025 with a new phase at the Veladero mine, located in the department of Iglesia, San Juan. The company will develop Phase 8A of the Leaching Valley, a key project for the mining operation, which includes soil movement, installation of geosynthetics and placement of high-density polyethylene pipes. The works will last four months, from January to April. Agustín García Zalazar, Milicic Project Manager, highlighted that the project will have a peak of 500 collaborators and around 80 teams on site, which represents a major logistical and operational challenge. Gonzalo Vidal, Human Resources Administrator, stressed the importance of efficient planning to ensure compliance with deadlines in a highly demanding environment. In line with its commitment to local communities, Milicic has prioritized the hiring of workers from Jáchal and Iglesia and has established strategic alliances with regional suppliers to promote local consumption. In addition, it participates in dialogue tables with local Chambers to strengthen business collaboration. One of the most important technical aspects of this phase is the placement of geosynthetics and geomembranes, a task in which Milicic has extensive experience at Veladero. Iván Tropper, Project Manager, highlighted that this experience allows for optimising processes, improving efficiency and training new supervisors within the company. Located more than 4,000 meters above sea level, the Veladero mine presents additional challenges such as extreme weather conditions and complex topography. To mitigate operational risks, Milicic has strengthened its logistics planning and safety protocols. With this new challenge, Milicic reaffirms its ability to develop large-scale projects in demanding environments, consolidating its presence in the mining industry and contributing to the economic growth of San Juan. |
