Work Detail The second phase of Bhopal Metro will affect one-third fewer properties than Phase I, according to the social impact assessment and resettlement plan submitted to the government. The 14.14 km Blue Line, connecting Bhadbada Square to Ratnagiri, is expected to commence construction before the end of March, sources from MPMRCL said. The metro corridor, which will be entirely elevated, is anticipated to cause mostly temporary dislocations. Along a two-kilometre stretch on Chiklod Road (Jehangirabad), the main impact will involve the removal of extending sheds during construction. In Barkhedi, another two-kilometre stretch will see the removal of 10-foot front sheds, with the possibility of reinstatement post-construction based on BMC and administrative policies. Beyond Chiklod Road, the impact is minimal, with the assessment categorizing it into temporary shifting and permanent relocation. The private contractor has optimized the resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) plan based on MPMRCL’s preliminary surveys conducted over the last five years. The total cost of the R&R implementation plan for the entire Bhopal Metro project is estimated at ?446.87 crore, governed by the RTFCTLARR Act, 2013. The Blue Line will have 14 elevated stations along its 14.164 km route, running west to east from Bhadbada Square through Bhadbada Road, Jehangirabad Road, Chicklod Road, Pool Bogda Road, and Raisen Road, ending at Ratnagiri Tiraha.
