Datamatics Global Services Limited has secured the contract to implement the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system for Pune Metro Line 3, covering 23 stations along the 23-km elevated route from Hinjewadi to Civil Court (Shivaji Nagar). The AFC system will be designed, supplied, installed, tested, and commissioned by Datamatics, ensuring compatibility with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) standard. The system will support EMV open-loop contactless cards and QR-based ticketing for seamless travel. Pune Metro Line 3 is being developed under a public-private partnership between the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) and a joint venture of TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. The project follows a Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Transfer (DBFOT) model for a 35-year concession period. Rahul Kanodia, Vice Chairman and CEO of Datamatics, highlighted the companys expertise in AFC solutions. “We are the only Indian company with a robust AFC system, having successfully implemented similar solutions in metro networks across Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, and the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor,” he said. Beyond India, Datamatics has executed over 25 AFC projects globally in cities such as London, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Melbourne, further solidifying its position in the intelligent transport solutions space. |
