Work Detail According to data from the Ministry of Energy, 28 MW of installed capacity was added last year. There are 2,290 generating units, with the commercial-industrial segment covering 78.1% of the total. The Argentine Energy Secretariat has released the Progress Report of the national Distributed Generation Law 27.424, which specifies that while the installed capacity in the sector increased from 30,689 MW in 2023 to 58,996 in 2024 - representing a growth of 92% -, by generating units (UG) the ratio was 1,593 in 2023 to 2,290 in 2024 - a growth of 44%. It is more than likely that one of the reasons for this increase, both in capacity and in generation units, is due to the Governments decision to progressively increase electricity rates, in addition to removing widespread subsidies . It should also be remembered that in September last year the maximum limit for self-consumption was increased - for individual, community or virtual community projects - from 2 MW to 12 MW of power from renewable sources to supply the demand itself and inject the surplus into the distribution network. In absolute terms, there are 18 provincial jurisdictions adhering to the Distributed Generation Regime, there are also 330 distributors/cooperatives registered on the platform, for a total of 2,290 UG. In terms of the number of UGs, the province of Córdoba (998) is the leader, also having the highest installed capacity (21.3 MW), while the second place is occupied by the province of Buenos Aires with 630 UGs and 12.4 MW. Of the rest, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires stands out, with 141 UGs and 3.6 MW of capacity, and the provinces of San Juan, with 104 UGs and 6.2 MW of capacity, and Entre Ríos, with 86 UGs and 2.4 MW of capacity. Together, the five jurisdictions mentioned represent around 80% of the total installed capacity. It is stated that the almost 59 MW of installed power under the distributed generation regime is equivalent to the annual electricity demand of more than 28,000 homes, a figure taken from the average annual consumption of 3,600 kW/h per home. Of the total of 2,290 UG, almost 57% (1,299 UG) belong to the residential segment, while 38% (871 UG) to the commercial-industrial segment. Between them, they cover 95% of the total; the remaining 5% is divided between official entities and organisations (46 UG) and others (74 UG). The situation is different when considering installed capacity, in which case the commercial-industrial segment stands out, with 46 MW (78.1% of the total). The residential segment accounts for 5.9 MW (10%). Meanwhile, the segment of official entities and organizations has 3.6 MW (6.1%) and others 3.3 MW (5.7%). Finally, it should be noted that there are 690 projects in progress totalling 14.5 MW of installed capacity.
