Power utility Elektroprivreda BiH has launched a tender for the 50 MW Vlašic wind project. The site is 15 kilometers northwest of the town of Travnik in Bosnia and Herzegovina. State-owned power utility Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH) is looking for a provider of consulting services for its second wind farm. The first one – Podveležje, came online in 2021. The prequalification phase is open until February 24. The call is financed by Germany’s KfW Development Bank. It is financing the project together with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union. The project is divided into three lots The call is for the procurement and installation of the equipment and facilities, and services, split into three lots. Lot 1 is for up to ten wind turbine generators. Lot 2 envisages a wind power plant substation. Access roads, internal roads, assembly areas, and crane pads are in lot 3. The consultant shall provide expertise in concept preparation and prepare technical requirements and tenders. It would be tasked with ngineering, supervision over construction and commissioning, overall project management services as well as environmental, social, health, and safety services. The contractor will be responsible for the successful implementation of the project with respect to time, cost, quality, and compliance with national regulations and international standards including the lender’s environmental and social standards, the call reads. There are currently four wind farms in BiH In February 2024, the European Investment Bank’s EIB Global branch formally approved EUR 36 million for the construction of the Vlašic wind farm. The project is receiving EUR 21.7 million in grants from the EU, EIB and KfW, which also provided a EUR 16.5 million loan. EPBiH will participate with EUR 16.7 million of own funds. The total value of the project is estimated at EUR 91 million. Of note, BiH currently has four wind farms. The fourth one – Ivovik, recently entered trial operation. Mesihovina, the first wind farm in BiH, was inaugurated in 2018. The second one, Jelovaca, was put into operation in 2019. Podveležje, completed in 2021, is the only one outside of Canton 10. |
