The construction sector is facing a new concern due to a sudden 35% increase in the price of ceramic bricks, an essential input in many construction projects. This increase, announced by the main producers of the sector, is causing concern in a context where activity was beginning to show signs of recovery after months of stagnation. In Córdoba, expectations of a recovery were based on the implementation of various provincial public works and a slight upturn in the private sector. However, the increase in the costs of key materials such as ceramic bricks could put this positive trend at risk. In Buenos Aires, even higher increases were reported, reaching 70% in some cases. The construction cluster expressed its concern about this sudden increase, warning of the possible negative impact on the sectors value chain. In addition, they pointed out that this market behavior could respond to cartelization among producers, which would limit competition and make ongoing projects even more expensive. In a statement, the cluster urged to seek construction alternatives that allow reducing costs without compromising the quality and efficiency of the works. In this regard, they stressed the importance of promoting the use of new technologies and innovative materials that can guarantee greater price stability and improve the competitiveness of the sector. Finally, the cluster reiterated its commitment to work together with all actors involved in construction to find equitable and sustainable solutions. Through dialogue and cooperation, they seek to mitigate the impact of these increases and prevent them from slowing down the development of key works for the countrys infrastructure and economy. |
