Pilar advances with a $7 billion hydraulic plan to mitigate flooding As part of a comprehensive water works plan , the municipality of Pilar will implement an underground drainage system in its downtown area, with an investment of $7 billion . The project includes the construction of two main pipelines , which will divert rainwater to the Agustoni Canal , reducing the risk of flooding in the area. According to the Undersecretary of Water Resources of the Province of Buenos Aires, Néstor Álvarez, 19 companies have submitted bids for the project, which will have a completion period of 18 months once the work begins. The work is expected to begin between January and February of next year . Characteristics of the work The project involves the construction of two underground trunk pipelines , called Troncal Ituzaingó and Troncal Uruguay , which will channel water from two sub-basins to National Route 8 and its connection with Branch 1 of the Agustoni Canal . Ituzaingó Trunk : It crosses Provincial Routes No. 8 and No. 25 on Ituzaingó Street and joins Branch 1 at Brasil and Sargento Cabral . It will have eight secondary branches . Uruguay Trunk : It crosses the same routes on Uruguay Street and ends at Branch 1 in Brazil and Uruguay , with three additional branches . This system will improve storm drainage in the central area of ??Pilar, optimising the infrastructure to better manage rainfall and prevent flooding. More waterworks in Pilar In addition to this intervention, the provincial government is working on other stormwater infrastructure projects , in collaboration with the municipality. Among them, work stands out in Los Cachorros and Derqui , with the aim of consolidating a comprehensive drainage scheme for the region. With these works, Pilar is getting closer to solving the flooding problems in the most critical areas of the district, ensuring a more resilient urban development in the face of rain.
