The Jewar international airport is set to become Asias largest airport, with regular operations slated to begin in April, announced Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in the Rajya Sabha. While responding to supplementary questions during a session, the minister confirmed that airlines are eager to start operations from the airport, which will significantly enhance global connectivity. Jewar airport is emerging as the countrys and Asias biggest airport. We conducted a successful validation flight in December, and everything is progressing according to schedule, Naidu stated. By April, we will witness the commencement of regular operations at the Jewar-Noida international airport, he added. The minister highlighted that major airlines, including Air India and Indigo, are excited about the airport’s potential to improve connectivity, especially from the Noida region. He also emphasized that the airport’s proximity to the Noida expressway will soon be complemented by enhanced road connectivity. In response to other queries, Naidu also praised the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, calling it a revolutionary initiative. He revealed that the scheme would be extended for an additional ten years, with plans to add 100 more airports across India. Addressing questions about the Kushinagar airport, the minister assured that it would open soon, with ongoing efforts to make it operational. |
