Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget 2025-26, announced a significant push for India’s clean energy transition, with a special focus on nuclear energy, renewable energy manufacturing, electricity distribution reforms, and hydrogen energy solutions. This initiative aims to increase domestic production capabilities for: Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Cells Electric Vehicle (EV) Batteries Motors and Controllers Electrolyzers for Green Hydrogen Wind Turbines Very High-Voltage Transmission Equipment Grid-Scale Batteries This push aligns with India’s goal of becoming a global manufacturing hub for renewable energy technology, reducing dependence on imports, and fostering innovation in the clean energy sector?. Encouraging Green Hydrogen and Energy Storage To support India’s energy transition, Sitharaman also announced key measures to promote energy storage solutions and hydrogen-based energy systems.
