Work Detail JA Solar, a global leader in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, introduced its latest DeepBlue 5.0 PV module in January. This new module offers higher efficiency, improved reliability, and greater adaptability, setting a new benchmark in solar technology. Powered by advanced Bycium+ 5.0 cell technology, DeepBlue 5.0 incorporates several key innovations, including enhanced electrical design, upgraded materials, and a refined structure. These improvements enable it to achieve up to 670W of power and an impressive efficiency of 24.8%. Additionally, the module performs exceptionally well in low-light and challenging weather conditions, ensuring consistent and reliable energy generation across various environments. JA Solar’s DeepBlue 5.0 PV module is designed with advanced optical absorption and electrical optimization, reducing the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) by up to 4.3% compared to its predecessor, the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro. The module features key enhancements across three critical areas. The wafer now offers improved resistivity uniformity, ultra-low oxygen content of just 3 ppma, and an extended minority carrier lifetime. The Bycium+ 5.0 cell incorporates high-efficiency n-type passivated contact technology, optimized light absorption, and an ultra-high open-circuit voltage of 749 mV. Additionally, the module structure integrates cutting-edge PII, HDP, UTG, and CSE technologies, ensuring exceptional durability and reliability even in extreme conditions. Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar, stated “At JA Solar, innovation is at the core of our mission to accelerate the global transition to clean energy. The DeepBlue 5.0 represents our commitment to delivering products that combine exceptional performance, cost efficiency, and reliability, empowering our customers to achieve their sustainability goals.” With a first-year degradation rate of =1% and an annual linear degradation of =0.4%, the DeepBlue 5.0 sets a new industry benchmark for efficiency and long-term performance. Mass production is scheduled for Q4 2025, with initial power ratings ranging from 640W to 670W. Designed to meet the rising demand for high-efficiency solar modules in premium markets, DeepBlue 5.0 aims to deliver outstanding value for utility-scale, commercial, and residential PV projects worldwide.
