Work Detail The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working on the completion of the third contract package of the Pulangi River Revetment Wall Project in Barangay Natulongan, Kibawe, Bukidnon. In her report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 10 Director Lilibeth N. Aparecio said that a combined amount of ?91.1 million has been released under the 2022 and 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for Packages 1 and 2, resulting in the construction of a total of 401 lineal meters of concrete bank protection along Pulangi River. Programmed as a multi-year project, Package 3 involves the construction of 325-lineal meters of revetment wall with steel sheet pile foundations along the upstream and downstream of Pulangi Steel Bridge. “Additional river walls were carried out to alleviate flooding in low-lying areas surrounding this section of Pulangi River which tends to overflow during periods of heavy rainfall,” said Director Aparecio. Scheduled for completion within the first quarter of 2025, the structure is expected to mitigate soil erosion along the riverbanks and protect lives and properties against damages caused by extreme flooding. “With this project, we can also reduce the possibility of having to displace families during typhoons and prevent natural calamities from hampering daily activities and local productivity,” added Director Aparecio. Sourced from the 2024 GAA, the ongoing revetment wall project has an allocation of ?95.5 million and is being implemented by the DPWH Bukidnon 2nd District Engineering Office.
