Work Detail The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a flood mitigation structure and a farm-to-market road (FMR) that now benefits rural communities in the municipalities of Santa Cruz and Torrijos, spurring economic growth in Marinduque. In a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Marinduque District Engineer Richard Emmanuel P. Ragragio identified the completed project as the 371-lineal meter flood control structure strategically built in the low-lying area of Barangay Poctoy, in the municipality of Torrijos. “The construction of the revetment wall is an essential measure to mitigate destructive flooding leaving serious damages to residential properties and severely affecting the living conditions of the residents in the area, said District Engineer Ragragio. Additionally, an FMR completed in Barangay San Antonio, municipality of Santa Cruz, now significantly enhanced road access of local farmers for faster and efficient transportation of local products to the market centers of its neighboring towns. The 1.02-kilometer road concreting project is a convergence program of DPWH with the Department of Agriculture, which includes the construction of shoulder on both sides, stone masonry, and concrete line canals, fortifying the durability of the road against all weather conditions. Implemented by DPWH Marinduque District Engineering Office, the flood control and FMR projects were completed in the amount of P67.54 Million and P15.42 Million, respectively.
