The College of Engineers of the Province of Buenos Aires (CIPBA) expressed its concern about the halt in public works and the reduction in state funding, particularly in the province of Buenos Aires. In a statement, the organization highlighted the negative impact of this situation on the economy and the structural development of the country, urging the National Government to define clear policies to promote public infrastructure. Uncertainty in the execution of works According to CIPBA, the three months of the current administration have seen a significant decrease in public investment, under the Chilean-style model proposed during the campaign by President Javier Milei, based on private initiative. This situation has generated an unpredictable scenario that affects the entire production chain linked to the construction sector. The entity stressed the urgency of addressing the halted works to avoid further deterioration and future costs. Criticism of the contracting of foreign services The College questioned the recent hiring of the Spanish company Técnicos Reunidos for work related to the Vaca Muerta Sur oil pipeline, arguing that such services could have been carried out by Argentine professionals. The tasks entrusted include the design of a hydrocarbon storage and dispatch terminal in Punta Colorada, Río Negro. The entity highlighted that many local engineers work on international projects, which demonstrates their ability to develop high-level technical services. Strategic projects and proposals CIPBA reaffirmed its commitment to strategic infrastructure initiatives, such as the Magdalena Canal, offshore exploration in the Argentine Sea, the construction of roads and the development of gas pipelines. It also reiterated its willingness to collaborate with the authorities in the development of plans for financing and maintenance of public works. The entity emphasized that these projects are essential for the countrys progress and require firm decisions at all levels of the State to guarantee social well-being and economic growth. |
