Accelerating the energy transition and achieving the decarbonisation goals of the MENA region require collaboration, investment, and decisive action, according to Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Bahrain’s Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs. Speaking at the third edition of Sustainability Forum Middle East, which commenced on Tuesday, Dr. Daina reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to fostering national partnerships and international cooperation across various sustainable development sectors. The two-day forum, supported by the Supreme Council for Environment, has convened over 400 business leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts. Key discussions focus on aligning business models with climate action, scaling climate finance, advancing policy frameworks, fostering innovation, and accelerating technological advancements. Dr. Daina also underscored the importance of strengthening regional and international collaboration, enhancing coordination, and facilitating knowledge exchange to combat climate change, adapt to its impacts, and mitigate its causes. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s dedication to global climate and sustainability agreements, extending his best wishes for the forum’s success and meaningful outcomes. The event features insights from more than 50 prominent speakers representing MENA, Europe, the UK, the US, Brazil, and other regions. Experts are addressing critical topics essential to achieving net-zero ambitions across the region. The forum will host a series of expert-led workshops, delivered by global management consultancies and regional ESG and sustainability advisory firms. These sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop effective sustainability strategies, enhance climate-related financial disclosures, and drive decarbonisation initiatives. |
