The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has renewed its collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Energy Secure Philippines (ESP) program to improve the Commission’s communication strategies. The partnership aims to strengthen the ERC’s engagement with the public and enhance understanding of its complex mandates in the energy sector. A Strategic Communication Planning Workshop join together the representatives from various ERC services. The workshop focused on developing a strategic communication plan to bridge the gap between the Commission’s technical initiatives and public understanding. During the two-day workshop, participants identified key areas for improvement in ERC’s communication efforts. They also collaborated on creating comprehensive implementation, monitoring, and evaluation plans for the ERC’s information campaigns. These plans aim to enhance the Commission’s ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and the general public about energy-related issues and initiatives. The partnership between ERC and USAID, through the ESP program, supports the country’s energy sector priorities while advancing climate mitigation goals. The collaboration has been instrumental in several initiatives, including the launch of the Competitive Retail Electricity Market (CREM) Monitoring and Reporting System, the Retail Electricity Supplier (RES) Scorecard Survey, and the ERC LINKod digital platform. Additionally, the ERC recently completed the Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification process and engaged in a Regulatory Twinning Program with the National Energy Authority of Papua New Guinea (NEA-PNG). This ongoing partnership underscores the ERC’s commitment to promoting transparency, efficiency, and climate action within the Philippine energy sector. |
