Work Detail |
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), in collaboration with the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI), has launched a survey today focused on improving stakeholder engagement in electricity infrastructure projects across the European Union. The survey is part of the EU’s Pact for Engagement and will be open for responses until February 23, 2025. The Pact for Engagement, a key initiative to support the energy transition, emphasizes the importance of enhancing regulatory support for early, regular, and meaningful stakeholder engagement activities in grid projects. The survey aims to gather valuable insights into the current practices, opportunities, and challenges related to regulatory and legal frameworks for stakeholder involvement in the development of European electricity infrastructure. The questionnaire is targeted at grid operators across Europe, including Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs), as well as National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs). The results of the survey will contribute to shaping regulatory environments and developing dedicated chapters on stakeholder engagement in grid investment plans. The findings will be shared at the 11th Energy Infrastructure Forum in June 2025, where intermediate insights will be discussed. Additionally, follow-up activities will take place during the Pact for Engagement Stakeholder Meetings, facilitated by the European Commission. This initiative underscores the commitment of the EU and its partners to ensure effective and inclusive stakeholder engagement in the critical development of energy infrastructure, helping to pave the way for a sustainable energy future. |
