PNN 88862
Work Detail Oxan Energy, a France-based offshore wind developer, has won Estonias first floating offshore wind tender. In partnership with Snow, a financial advisor specialising in renewable energy, Oxan Energy will develop the ‘Saare 1’ project, which has a potential capacity of 900 MW. The project site, Saare 1, is located 60 kilometres off the coast of Saaremaa, Estonia’s largest island. The designated area spans 88 square kilometres with water depths of up to 85 metres. The consortium will begin with environmental and technical studies, starting with the environmental impact assessment. While floating wind technology is planned, the projects depth conditions may allow for a combination of floating and bottom-fixed technologies. Final decisions on the wind farm layout and technology will be made based on study results. The Saare 1 project is expected to be commissioned in 2033.
