Work Detail Graduates will have the opportunity to secure jobs in the private sector through the NEXT GEN RESCO Programme In a bid to encourage young Nigerians to enter the renewable energy sector, the Government has set up a training programme to address the skills deficit that exists within the market. The NEXT GEN RESCO Programme is an initiative by the government through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in partnership with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) and the Ecological Innovation Empowerment Initiative (EIEI). Now open for application, the 12-month programme offers 60 successful applicants a unique opportunity to gain industry knowledge, learn from industry experts and collaborate with key stakeholders in the energy sector. Pushing for greater participation by the private sector in renewable energy REA said that in the past eight months, it has played a central role in revolutionising the clean energy ecosystem, mainstreaming the Federal Government’s scale-up approach to implementing clean energy projects nationwide. “As the nation advances efforts in the strategic optimisation of renewable energy projects for growth and sustainable development, the REA has sustained its advocacy on the need for improved governance structure amongst private sector players to deliver more wholesome and sustainable services to Nigerians. “Through what the Agency calls the Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESOCs), the REA understands that sustaining a private sector-driven ecosystem requires the best technical, analytical and leadership skills.” REA said that as the Federal Government accelerates the growth of the clean energy ecosystem, the launch of the NEXT GEN RESCO programme is a strategic move to upskill young Nigerians to match the imminent growth in the sector. The programme will feature: Intensive training on renewable energy systems and leadership development Hands-on experience with leading companies in the sector Networking opportunities with industry leaders and professionals Internship exposure to real-world challenges and solutions in the renewable energy landscape. In a bid to ensure inclusion and equal opportunities, the collaborating agencies have set inclusive eligibility criteria, with applications open to: Graduates with 3.5 CGPA and above Applicants with a maximum of two years of post-graduate experience Applicants with strong leadership and interpersonal skills Female applicants are highly encouraged to apply Candidates currently serving in Abuja are also eligible to apply“Leveraging its close-knit strategic engagements with the Renewable Energy Service Companies, the REA has equally secured the buy-in of the private sector on better service delivery, and investment in innovation, research and development. “Upon the successful completion of the 12-month programme, the NEXT GEN RESCO Cohorts will have the opportunity to secure active roles in private sector companies in Nigeria, optimising the skills garnered from the NEXT GEN RESCO Programme,” said REA.
