Work Detail | Road development works are planned for Melbourne, Australia.A new road project worth US$209 million (A$333.5 million) is planned in the Australian city of Melbourne. The work is intended to reduce traffic congestion levels in the city and will see improvement works to the Ballan Road Intersection and the Werribee Main Road - Princes Freeway Interchange. The intersection and interchange are located in the west of the city and suffer serious congestion at peak periods. Queues of cars can extend as much as 3km when the traffic is at its worst. Improvements to these will improve traffic flow and cut journey times for drivers in and around Werribee. The work is also expected to improve safety for drivers by reducing the numbers of vehicles having to queue to use the exit along the Princess Freeway. Construction work for the project is expected to commence in late 2026 or early 2027 and should take until 2030 to compete. The funding for the project is being provided jointly by the Victorian State Government and Australian Federal Government. |
