Work Detail UK CTV provider is partnering with Britoil Offshore Services and Sky Offshore UK CTV provider Tidal Transit has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Asian partners to provide support vessels for the South Korean offshore wind industry. The MoU with Singapore-based Britoil Offshore Services and South Korea’s Sky Offshore spans development, funding, building and operation of vessels. South Korea has set a nationwide goal of reaching 14.3GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. To accelerate this expansion, the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) is launching a number of initiatives aimed at stimulating sector growth and strengthening the renewable energy capacity of the country. Tidal Transit’s director Leo Hambro said: “South Korea is fast becoming a major hub for offshore wind, and this new venture with Britoil and Sky Offshore will enable us to leverage our combined decades of experience and expertise to more quickly and effectively respond to upcoming tenders as the sector continues to grow.” “At Tidal Transit, we’ve been operating at the very forefront of UK and European offshore wind. Through our collaboration with leading international players Britoil and Sky Offshore, we’re now poised to expand our horizons and establish ourselves as frontrunners in the evolving South Korean offshore wind industry.” Ernest Loh, who heads the Asia Pacific business unit at Britoil Offshore Services, added: “Britoil Offshore Services is proud to collaborate with Tidal Transit and Sky Offshore to support the advancement of the offshore wind industry in South Korea.” He added: “Leveraging our extensive expertise in the offshore energy market and our investments in an expanding fleet of outfitted offshore support vessels, we are committed to delivering exceptional solutions to support the growth of South Koreas offshore wind sector”. Formed in 1988, Britoil has operated in the energy industry for 37 years with vast experience in anchor handling, towing, and transportation at sea. Established in 2016, Sky Offshore provides professional project support services for the marine and offshore sectors, offering integrated project services across transportation and installation, project support services, manpower, technical consulting services and project management.
