The first trial run of the Noapara-Jai Hind Biman Bandar metro route in Kolkata was successfully conducted recently, marking a significant step towards launching the service by this year. The trial began at 12:09 pm from Noapara station, covering both the UP and DN lines of the 7.04 km Yellow Line stretch. Metro Railway Kolkata General Manager P Uday Kumar Reddy joined the trial run, and during the journey, the rake made a brief stop at Dum Dum Cantonment station for an inspection. The train reached Jai Hind Biman Bandar station at 12:31 pm, where Reddy also conducted an inspection of the facilities. The return journey commenced from Jai Hind Biman Bandar at 1:57 pm, reaching Noapara station at 2:21 pm. We hope to commission the services by the middle of this year, the spokesperson said. The new route will have four stations: Noapara, Dum Dum Cantonment, Jessore Road, and Jai Hind Biman Bandar. The 7.03 km stretch includes 1.8 km of underground track and 5.23 km elevated on a viaduct. |
