Work Detail Aluar, Argentinas leading producer of primary aluminum, will begin construction of the first private power line under the current administration. This 34.16-kilometer, 132 Kv transmission line will connect Aluars La Flecha Wind Farm to its production plant in Puerto Madryn. This project is part of an expansion project for the wind farm, which will increase its capacity from 246 MW to 582 MW, with a total investment of US$400 million. The expanded wind farm, located 40 kilometers from Puerto Madryn, will occupy 200 square kilometers and will have enough installed capacity to supply 600,000 homes. The project includes the construction of a transformer station and the installation of 56 new wind turbines of 6 MW each, with blades of 165 meters in diameter and a hub height of 100 meters, supplied by the Chinese company Goldwind. Authorization for the construction of the transmission line was granted by resolution 1/25 of the Ministry of Energy. This resolution authorizes Aluar to build an electric power transmission line for private use to supply its plant. The concession will have a duration of 15 years, during which Aluar must build, operate and maintain the line at its own expense. After this period, the line will be transferred to the concession of TRANSPA, also under the control of Aluar. The authorization is subject to four main conditions: the line will operate without connection to other facilities of the Electric Power Transmission System, except in emergencies; if the injection of energy is suspended for more than two years and there are interested parties in using the network, the ENRE may manage access requests; Aluar must operate and maintain the facilities in compliance with public safety standards and ENRE regulations; and the infrastructure must comply with ecosystem protection measures and pollutant emission standards. The new line will be 34 kilometres long, of which 25 km will run through Aluars land and the remaining 9 km will run parallel to another power line. The Chinese wind turbines began to arrive in mid-December and were transported from the Almirante Storni dock to the wind farm by the company Coamtra. Both the wind turbines and the power line are expected to be operational in the second half of 2026. The news mentions Aluar, Goldwind (supplier of the wind turbines) and Coamtra (transport company) as participants in the project.
