Suzlon Group and Torrent Power Ltd. have achieved a significant milestone by collectively powering 1 GW of wind energy in India, marked by a new 486 MW hybrid project order. This collaboration is a major step toward supporting India’s goal of generating 50% of its electricity from renewable sources while bolstering the Make in India initiative. Under the agreement, Suzlon will supply 162 advanced S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice (HLT) Towers, each with a 3 MW capacity. The project will be located in the Bhogat region of Gujarat. Commenting on the achievement, Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, stated, “We are proud to partner with Torrent, a pioneer in integrating renewables into their energy portfolio. Our decade-long collaboration has reached a remarkable milestone—1 GW of cumulative orders across Gujarat and Karnataka.
