Tata Power Mumbai Distribution is proud to announce that one of its valued consumers, Mr. Vikas Sharad Chandra Pandit from Borivali, has been invited to attend the 2025 Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, as a special guest. Mr. Pandit, who benefits from the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY), is one of 800 people selected across the country by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to recognize those who have adopted rooftop solar systems early under the scheme. In June 2024, Mr. Pandit installed a 3 kW rooftop solar system with the help of Tata Power Mumbai Distribution. This system has allowed him to become energy independent and eliminate his electricity bills, thanks to the company’s efficient net metering service. Tata Power Mumbai Distribution has been actively promoting the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana across Mumbai, with over 40 residential buildings and housing societies already participating. Together, they have achieved a total rooftop solar capacity of around 24 MW. The company has provided direct financial support to consumers, with subsidies amounting to ?85 lakhs so far. The PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has brought significant benefits to Mumbai residents, helping them lower their electricity bills by harnessing solar energy. Mr. Pandit’s experience is a perfect example of how this initiative is contributing to India’s renewable energy goals. As Mr. Pandit and his family get ready for the Republic Day Parade, his story highlights the positive impact of adopting renewable energy. Tata Power Mumbai Distribution continues to lead the way in promoting such success stories, reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable future. Mr. Pandit mentioned, “My 2.7 kW rooftop solar system facilitated by Tata Power has been transformative and extremely beneficial for my family. In just six months, it has saved ?24,000 for us and produced approximately 25 units of clean energy daily. I am grateful to Tata Power and MNRE for recognising my effort and inviting us to the Republic Day celebrations. The entire process for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bifli Yojana was seamless, transparent, and online and was made easy by Tata Power Mumbai Distribution team for us to adopt solar energy. I highly recommend rooftop solar to everyone, including my neighbours, many of whom have sought my guidance after seeing our installation.
