The Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) successfully concluded an auction for 500 MW of solar PV projects paired with a 1,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The auction set a benchmark with a discovered tariff of ?2.21 lakhs per MW per month, showcasing the growing competitiveness of India’s solar energy market. Tariffs for the project ranged from ?2.21 to ?2.24 lakhs per MW per month, with four companies securing contracts for a total capacity of 500 MW. Solar World Energy Solutions won 125 MW (250 MWh) with a tariff of ?2.21 lakhs per MW per month. Oriana Power secured 50 MW (100 MWh) with a tariff of ?2.22 lakhs per MW per month. Rays Power Experts was awarded 75 MW (150 MWh) at ?2.23 lakhs per MW per month, while JSW Neo Energy secured 250 MW (500 MWh) at ?2.24 lakhs per MW per month. RVUNL issued a tender on December 3, 2024, to develop a standalone BESS with a capacity of 500 MW/1,000 MWh under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model. These systems will be installed at RVUNL power plants and substations managed by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL), with an optional additional capacity of 500 MW/1,000 MWh. |
