State-owned telecom equipment manufacturer ITI Limited has been awarded a ?167 crore contract by Maharashtra’s Rural Development Department to implement the Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra (ASSK) project. The contract, announced today, involves setting up and operating ASSK centers in Gram Panchayats across the Chatrapathi Sambhaji Nagar, Nagpur, and Amaravati regions. As part of the agreement, ITI will also provide system maintenance for one year and deploy technical manpower at these centers to ensure smooth operations. The project aims to enhance digital citizen services, improving transparency, efficiency, and accessibility of e-governance services in rural areas. Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited, emphasized that the initiative would play a pivotal role in strengthening the Panchayati Raj System by facilitating digital access to government services in remote regions. Founded as India’s first post-independence PSU in the telecom sector, ITI Limited operates six manufacturing facilities across the country, alongside an R&D center in Bengaluru. The company has diversified its operations to include defense, railways, solar equipment, and IT services, and also runs a data center in Bengaluru serving government institutions and banks. This contract further solidifies ITIs role in Maharashtra’s digital governance efforts and strengthens its position within the e-governance sector. |
