Work Detail Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is set to inaugurate India’s first cable-stayed bridge built on a curve in Goa, a significant milestone for the state’s infrastructure. The bridge, which connects Sada to Varunapuri and the Goa International Airport, is the first of its kind in India, featuring a unique 180-degree curvature radius. Along with the inauguration, Gadkari will lay the foundation stones for four major highway expansion projects worth ?2,500 crore. These projects include the Ponda to Bhoma section (NH-748), Zuari to Margao Bypass (NH-66), Navelim to Cuncolim section (NH-66), and Bendordem to Karnataka border (NH-66), with a total investment of ?1,376.12 crore. The Ponda to Bhoma section will improve connectivity between several key areas such as Ponda, Bandora, Priol, Cuncoliem, and Corlim, while the Zuari to Margao Bypass will connect Dabolim Airport, Mormugao Port, and Ponda city, passing through important industrial estates. The Navelim to Cuncolim section will strengthen links between Panaji, Margao, and southern Goa, as well as connecting to Karnataka. A government spokesperson emphasized that these projects, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, are expected to significantly improve connectivity between Goas airports and ports, enhancing logistical efficiency and spurring economic and regional development.
