Work Detail According to the official organ of the ruling communist party, Granma, each of the parks will have 21.8 MW of power. This year, 55 photovoltaic plants, each with a capacity of 21.8 MW, are to be built and synchronized with Cubas National Electric System (SEN) and distributed across different areas of the Caribbean island, according to Granma, the official organ of the ruling Cuban Communist Party. These parks, which together represent a capacity of 1,199 MW, are part of a plan presented by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Cuba (Minem) in March of last year , which proposes installing a total of 92 photovoltaic parks by 2028, with an installed capacity of 2,000 MW. According to Granma, four of the projects that will be operational this year have a 50 MW battery storage system: in Bayamo, Granma province; in Cueto, Holguín province; and at the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana (Cujae), and in El Cotorro, both in Havana province. According to reports, each park will have between 42,588 and 43,904 solar panels, of 560 Wp and 555 Wp, respectively. According to official data, Cuba currently has an installed photovoltaic capacity of approximately 260 MW, responsible for around 2% of the countrys annual electricity generation. The official goal is to achieve 24% penetration of renewable energy by 2030.
