Work Detail The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has announced the start of an environmental review for Vineyard Mid-Atlantic’s proposed offshore wind energy project in federal waters off New York and New Jersey. Developed by Vineyard Offshore, the Vineyard Mid-Atlantic project is located within one of six lease areas in the New York Bight Wind Energy Area. As proposed, the project would generate over 2,000 MW of electricity from up to 117 wind turbines. The proposal includes up to two potential export cable corridors, with landfall points at Rockaway Beach, Atlantic Beach, or Jones Beach in New York. On 15 January, BOEM will publish a Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Construction and Operations Plan (COP) submitted by Vineyard Mid-Atlantic. The 43,056-acre lease area is approximately 20 miles offshore New York and 36 miles offshore New Jersey. Vineyard Offshore develops US projects that receive investment from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) funds.
