ACWA Power, Saudi Arabia, announces that the consortium of ACWA Power and IC IÇTAS INSAAT SANAYI VE TICARET A.S. has been selected as the successful bidder for the Caspian SWRO project by the Government of Azerbaijan. The consortium will build a seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant with a daily capacity of approximate 300,000 cubic metres. Located at the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in Azerbaijan, the plant will meet the increasing demand for drinking water in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. ACWA Power was chosen as the successful bidder for the project following a competitive tender process conducted within the first ever public-private partnership (PPP) framework in Azerbaijan. According to the announcement, the project’s duration is 27.5 years, after which consortium will transfer the management of the facility to the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency. |
