The European Commission has announced that the 19th edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), Europe’s premier annual event on renewables and energy efficiency, will take place from June 10 to 12, 2025, in Brussels and online. Under the theme “Powering a Fair and Competitive Green Transition,” the event will reflect the energy priorities of the 2nd von der Leyen Commission and marks the first EUSEW under its new mandate. The Commission has opened calls for policy session proposals, award nominations, and other participatory opportunities, underscoring the tradition of co-creating the programme with the clean energy community. Commissioner Highlights Energy’s Role in EU’s Future EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, highlighted the critical role of energy policy in addressing Europe’s challenges. “Energy policy is central to Europe’s competitiveness, security, jobs, and the green transition,” Jørgensen stated. He emphasized the need for increased investment in clean energy and technologies to reduce energy prices, end reliance on Russian fossil fuel imports, and ensure a just transition. Jørgensen also announced the upcoming Clean Industrial Deal, including an Action Plan for affordable energy, to be presented within the Commission’s first 100 days. He looks forward to engaging with the clean energy community at EUSEW 2025. Call for Policy Proposals and Award Applications The Commission has invited industry leaders, policymakers, civil society, and academia to contribute to the conference programme. Proposals for policy sessions are open until January 23, 2025, offering stakeholders an opportunity to shape discussions on sustainable energy. Additionally, the EUSEW Awards will honor innovation and efforts in three categories: Innovation Local Energy Action Woman in Energy Applications for these prestigious awards are open until January 30, 2025. Broader Participation Opportunities Other ways to engage include becoming an exhibitor at the Energy Fair, joining as a Young Energy Ambassador, or organizing a Local Sustainable Energy Day. Details on these initiatives will be announced in January and February 2025.
