Work Detail The fourth Steering Committee meeting for the Energy Partnership Program between Vietnam and Denmark (DEPP3) was held to review 2024 achievements and outline plans for 2025–2026. Co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz, the meeting emphasized Vietnam’s energy transition and Denmark’s role as a key partner. Strengthening Energy Cooperation Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long, in his opening speech, commended Denmark’s contributions to Vietnam’s energy goals, highlighting the DEPP3 Program’s role in advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency. He noted Vietnam’s focus on achieving double-digit economic growth and transitioning to a low-carbon energy pathway. Key Achievements in 2024 The DEPP3 Program, funded by the Danish Government and governed by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, focuses on three components: Long-Term Energy Sector Planning: The Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy launched the Energy Outlook Report and infrastructure plans for offshore wind development. Training on the TIMES Vietnam model and knowledge-sharing on Power-to-X technology and offshore wind development were conducted. Renewable Energy Integration: The Electricity Regulatory Authority organized cybersecurity training for the energy sector and worked on electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Flexible operation models were piloted in two thermal power plants, and ancillary service knowledge was shared with the National System and Market Operator (NSMO). Low-Carbon Industrial Development: The Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development completed pilot projects under the Voluntary Agreement Program (VAS) and developed guidance materials. Ten energy audits were conducted in selected industries, and stakeholders participated in a study visit to Denmark.Unfinished Tasks and Future Plans While substantial progress was achieved, several activities remain incomplete and will be carried over into 2025. These include finalizing pending tasks before the DEPP3 Program concludes in March 2026. The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between Vietnam and Denmark, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to achieving the program’s goals. The DEPP3 Program remains a cornerstone of Vietnam’s efforts to enhance energy efficiency, scale renewable energy, and foster sustainable development in the industrial sector.
