Work Detail African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energies 2025, set to take place from September 29 to October 3, will be a pivotal event for stakeholders in Africa’s rapidly growing energy industry. Focused on investment and deal-making, AEW aims to bring together energy project developers, policymakers, and investors to facilitate capital flows into Africa’s oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors. With upstream final investment decisions (FIDs) at an all-time high, AEW 2025 will spotlight key energy projects. TotalEnergies is set to advance the multi-billion-barrel Venus project offshore Namibia, potentially unlocking billions of barrels in reserves and marking a major step forward in southern Africa’s energy exploration. The event will offer TotalEnergies a valuable opportunity to strengthen its relationships with African governments and investors, driving new exploration projects. ExxonMobil and Eni are also making significant strides in Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin. ExxonMobil is working towards an FID for the $30 billion Rovuma LNG development, while Eni is advancing the Coral Norte FLNG project, poised to be its second major LNG facility in the country. These ventures are crucial for Africa’s energy security and low-carbon transition, with AEW serving as a platform to further expand gas monetization efforts. In West Africa, AEW 2025 will highlight Woodside Energy’s second phase of the Sangomar Field Development offshore Senegal, alongside Kosmos Energy and bp’s collaboration on the second phase of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project. These projects will reinforce West Africa’s growing significance in global energy markets. Eni’s diverse portfolio in Africa will also take center stage, with high-profile projects including the Baleine oil and gas project in Ivory Coast, the Structures A&E and Bouri Gas Utilization Project in Libya, and the Marine XII development in the Republic of Congo. Additionally, Perenco is advancing the $1 billion Cap Lopez LNG terminal in Gabon, and Trident Energy is expanding its asset base in Congo, underscoring Central Africa’s importance in the continent’s energy transformation. In East Africa, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, led by TotalEnergies and CNOOC, is expected to deliver its first oil later this year, creating significant economic potential for Uganda and Tanzania. The $40 billion Tanzania LNG project by Equinor will also be a major topic of discussion at AEW, positioning East Africa as a key energy hub on the continent. As Africa’s premier energy event, AEW 2025 will provide a crucial platform for investors and energy companies to secure financing, negotiate deals, and explore opportunities across the continent’s energy sectors. The event’s Deal Room will offer exclusive one-on-one meetings for project developers, private equity firms, and development finance institutions to close high-value energy transactions.
