Work Detail The Varela Hermanos company has signed an agreement with the energy company Celsia for its construction in Panama City. Panamanian company Varela Hermanos, dedicated to the production of sugar for the manufacture of rum, and energy company Celsia have signed an agreement for the construction of a 881.5 kWp photovoltaic system to be installed on the roof of the Compañía Panameña de Licores, in Panama City . The installation involves the installation of 1,457 solar panels on a surface area of ??3,600 square meters. According to information provided to pv magazine , construction is scheduled to begin this year, with project operations commencing in June 2025. The information provided by the company Varela Hermanos, producer of Seco Herrerano and Ron Abuelo, among others, also states that the solar plant “will generate enough renewable energy to cover 100% of the production and bottling needs,” which will ensure that it will “reach an estimated production of 1 million 9-liter cases” for this year. In terms of savings, the project will reduce the current cost of energy used in operations by 40%. For its part, Celsia, in addition to construction, will be responsible for the annual maintenance of the plant for 15 years.
