Work Detail Anker is unveiling an off-grid perovskite solar umbrella and a refrigerator with battery energy storage at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Anker unveiled a new solar beach umbrella at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The umbrella is integrated with thin, foldable perovskite solar cells and supports 100W output via USB-C and XT-60 ports. Perovskite solar cells are an emerging technology that offers an alternative to conventional silicon-based solar cells. While silicon solar cells today have a maximum efficiency of around 24% and a theoretical limit of around 30%, perovskite solar cells can reach efficiencies of around 40%, packing more energy output into a smaller area. Perovskite solar cells are hailed for their high efficiency, thin and light profile, and flexibility. However, one drawback is that the durability of these materials is not yet on par with that of silicon solar cells. The solar umbrella is designed for use with the Anker Solix EverFrost electric cooler. The cooler has a removable 288Wh battery. The cooler is available in three sizes: 23L, 40L and 58L. According to the company, the battery provides around 52 hours of cooling on a single charge, but more batteries can be swapped in if more power is needed. The solar umbrella also continuously charges the battery when the sun is out, extending the total cooling time on a single battery.
