Work Detail Traffic congestion at the busy Edappally junction is set to ease to a certain extent with the opening of the Edappally flyover on September 11. The Palarivattom flyover is also expected to be opened for public use within two weeks.

Public Works Minister G Sudhakaran will dedicate the newly-constructed Edappally flyover, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 95 crore, to the public in a function in front of Lulu Mall at 1 am.

Built as part of preparatory works of Kochi Metro Rail, the four-lane flyover will offer connection to vehicles coming from Aluva to the city and those moving from the city through Banerji Road to Aluva. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which was the implementing agency of the flyover, wrote to Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) regarding completion of its work.

Tarring works of the carriageway of the flyover was completed Wednesday morning. Lights have also been installed at the bridge. The marking on roads and installation of reflectors would be completed within two days. Meanwhile, tarring works of Palarivattom Flyover are underway. Authorities overseeing the construction said it will be opened to public in September itself.
