Senior officials conducted a review of ongoing road development projects in Maharashtras Thane city and its surrounding areas recently, according to an official statement. The meeting, chaired by Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, focused on the Thane Municipal Corporations (TMC) efforts to overcome key challenges such as land acquisition, environmental approvals, and tree-related issues. A release issued by the TMC highlighted that the review covered several major projects, including the integration of Ghodbunder Road and service road, the Anand Nagar to Saket elevated road, the Balkum to Gaimukh coastal road, the Gaimukh to Payegaon creek bridge, and the Kasarvadavali to Kharbav creek bridge. Other projects discussed included the Kolshet to Kalher creek bridge and the Thane-Borivali underpass/tunnel. The meeting addressed critical issues related to land acquisition, tree transplantation, environmental clearances, and the relocation of water and sewage channels. The TMC also provided updates on the acquisition of 12.59 hectares of land for the Airoli to Katai Naka elevated road project, with a revised proposal for additional land and funds set to be submitted to the district collectors office and the state government following a detailed survey. In addition, the Thane-Borivali underpass/tunnel project, which will require eight lakh litres of water daily, will be supported by processed water from the citys sewage treatment plant. The review underscored the TMCs commitment to enhancing road infrastructure while addressing environmental and logistical concerns. |
