Work Detail There are 31 electric transmission projects in the pipeline, with investment amounts exceeding US$ 2,521 million. The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) reported that, among its projected commitments for the period 2025-2026, the execution of electricity generation projects for more than US$ 975 million of investment, the awarding of contracts for transmission projects for more than US$ 134 million, and the approval of regulations that aim to improve the electric service for the benefit of millions of users stand out. In Arequipa, Huanuco, La Libertad, Lambayeque and Puno, important electricity generation projects are being executed that will come into operation during the course of 2025 and will contribute 1,213 MW (megawatts) of power to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN), with investments of US$ 975.6 million. Among these projects, the following stand out: San Gaban III Hydroelectric Power Plant of 209.3 MW, in Puno; and the Sunny Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant in Arequipa, with 356.4 MW, among others, which will help strengthen the national electric power generation system to supply the growing demand for energy. On the other hand, the MINEM reported that in the first quarter of 2025, the contract will be awarded for 4 transmission projects that are part of the 2023-2032 Transmission Plan, which represent an estimated investment of US$ 134 million and will allow the national transmission system to be strengthened, guaranteeing a continuous supply of electricity benefiting the entire population of the country. Likewise, between 2025 and 2026, 31 electric transmission projects will be executed in various regions, with investment amounts of US$ 2,521 million, which will guarantee the supply of electricity for the benefit of 8.37 million SEIN users, which constitutes the population at the national level. Also, it is expected that in January 2025 the modification of Law No. 28832, approved by the Congress of the Republic last December, will be published, which promotes the competition of efficient and competitive technologies in the electrical subsector, benefiting all users in Peru. This initiative will have a positive impact at the national level and brings us closer to our goals of having a diversified energy matrix, as well as avoiding the increase in electricity rates.
