Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the launch of five major industrial projects on January 8, marking a significant milestone for the state. The projects, collectively worth ?4.8 lakh crore, include two long-awaited developments promised to the state during its bifurcation a decade ago. The key projects set for launch include: NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Park in Pudimadaka, Visakhapatnam, with an investment of ?1.85 lakh crore ArcelorMittal/Nippon Steel Integrated Steel Plant in Anakapalli, with an investment of ?1.35 lakh crore Bharat Petroleums Refinery in Ramayapatnam, with an investment of ?95,000 crore New Railway Zone at Visakhapatnam Reliance Biogas Plant Project (First Phase) in Ongole, Prakasam district According to sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), PM Narendra Modi has been invited to inaugurate these mega projects from Visakhapatnam on January 8. The event is scheduled to take place at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds. Among the highlights is the South Coast Railway Zone headquartered in Visakhapatnam. This is a long-awaited decision that was delayed since the bifurcation of the state in March 2014. With crucial support from Naidus Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to the BJP-led NDA government, the railway zone is now set to move forward. These projects include commitments made to the state under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and are expected to drive substantial economic growth in the region. The Green Hydrogen Park, originally scheduled for foundation laying in November 2024, was postponed due to inclement weather. However, the planned launch next week is anticipated to provide a significant boost to the state’s industrial infrastructure. |
