Work Detail Of the total electrical energy recorded in that month, 5,362 GWh, photovoltaic energy contributed 135 GWh, or 2.5%, according to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM). The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM) has released the report Main indicators of the electricity sector at the national level, as of November 2024, preliminary figures as of October 2024, which reports that total electricity, including Isolated Systems and the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN), amounted to 5,362 gigawatt hours (GWh), an increase of 1.8% compared to the same month in 2023. The report indicates that non-conventional renewable energy plants registered 369 GWh (6.8% of the total) for wind power and 135 GWh (2.5%) for photovoltaic power. The MINEM highlights that this is equivalent in both cases to increases of 53% and 24%, respectively, compared to the tenth month of last year. Of the total recorded, it is noted that 5,212 GWh (97%) was generated for the electricity market and 150 GWh (3%) was the amount of self-generated energy for the own use of the activities of industrial, mining, oil companies, among others. By the end of October 2024, national electricity generation using non-conventional renewable energy resources (RER) (solar, wind, bagasse and biogas) accumulated a production of 566 GWh, showing a significant increase of 37% over what was recorded in the same period in 2023. The report details that energy generated with renewable resources represents 10.6% of national production during the period analyzed, more than two points compared to October of the previous year, when it was 7.9%. In October 2024, hydroelectric power plants accumulated 2,052 GWh (39.3%) in the period analyzed, while thermal units that only use natural gas as a resource produced 2,805 GWh (53.8%).
