Singapore-based photovoltaic (PV) panels maker Maxeon Solar Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ:MAXN) announced today the signing of a settlement and cross-licensing agreement with Tongwei Solar (Hefei) Co Ltd that resolves their patent infringement lawsuit in Germany.Effective as of November 30, 2024, the newly-signed deal concerns shingled solar cell and module technology, Maxeon said in a brief statement, without giving more information.
A unit of Maxeon filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the aforementioned subsidiary of Tongwei Co Ltd in the Dusseldorf District Court back in June 2023, claiming that Tongwei infringes a European patent concerning Maxeon’s technology for shingled solar cell modules.
At the time of announcing the lawsuit launch, Lindsey Wiedmann, Maxeons Chief Legal & Sustainability Officer, said the following: "We have taken this action against Tongwei Solar both to protect our intellectual property rights and to encourage an orderly and healthy growth of the solar industry, as well as to give the market confidence that research and development initiatives to develop future technologies are valuable investments that can safely continue." |
