Work Detail The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project is advancing at a rapid pace, with significant milestones achieved, according to Indian Railways year-end review. The project has seen the completion of bridges across 13 rivers, several highways, and railway lines, facilitated by seven steel and prestressed concrete bridges. Construction work on the viaduct is well underway, with 243 km already completed. Additionally, 352 km of pier work and 362 km of pier foundation work have been finished. Track construction in Gujarat is progressing swiftly, with Reinforced Concrete (RC) Track Bed construction underway in Anand, Vadodara, Surat, and Navsari districts. A total of 71 km of RC track bed has been laid, and rail welding has begun on the viaduct. In Maharashtra, significant progress has been made at the Mumbai Bullet Train Station, where the first concrete base slab was successfully cast at a depth of 32 metres, equivalent to a 10-storey building. Work on the 21 km tunnel between Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Shilphata is progressing, with a 394-meter Intermediate Tunnel (ADIT) already completed to facilitate the main tunnels construction. In the Palghar district, seven mountain tunnels are being constructed using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM), while the sole mountain tunnel in Gujarat has been successfully completed. The 12 stations along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor are under construction, designed with thematic elements and energy-efficient features. These stations aim to provide a world-class passenger experience while prioritizing sustainability. Meanwhile, Indian Railways is also working towards its goal of becoming a Net Zero Carbon Emitter by 2030. As of November 2024, the railway has commissioned approximately 487 MW of solar power (both rooftop and ground-mounted) and 103 MW of wind power plants. An additional 100 MW of Renewable Energy - Round the Clock (RE-RTC) has begun flowing, and around 2,014 MW of renewable energy capacity has been tied up.
