Work Detail State-run NTPC announced recently that the group’s power generation reached 326 billion units (BU) during the April-December period of the current fiscal year, marking an annual growth of nearly 4%. The country’s largest power producer also reported coal production of 30.88 million tonnes (MT) from its captive mines, reflecting a significant 23% year-over-year increase. NTPC’s coal stations achieved a cumulative plant load factor (PLF) of 76.20% by the end of the third quarter of FY 2024-25. Additionally, the NTPC Group’s installed capacity stood at 76,598 megawatts (MW) as of the end of calendar year 2024, with 2,724 MW of capacity added during the year. These milestones underscore NTPC’s commitment to providing reliable and affordable power to the nation. Alongside its operational capacity of 76.6 gigawatts (GW), the group has 29.5 GW of capacity under construction, including 9.6 GW of renewable energy. The company remains steadfast in its goal to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. NTPC’s coal mining operations continue to exceed production targets, solidifying its role as a major player in the captive coal mining sector. The company dispatched 30.55 MT of coal to its power stations during the nine-month period, registering a 19% year-over-year increase. Cumulatively, NTPC Mining has produced over 134.87 MT and dispatched more than 132.98 MT of coal from its five operational captive mines, which include Pakri Barwadih, Kerandari, and Chatti Bariatu in Jharkhand, Dulanga in Odisha, and Talaipalli in Chhattisgarh. These achievements reflect NTPC’s focus on scaling up its operations to meet the growing energy needs of the nation.
