This was confirmed by the Minister of Production, Gustavo Puccini. The project will supply natural gas to the towns of Esperanza, Recreo, Monte Vera and the Santa Fe coast.
The Government of the Province of Santa Fe aims to complete the Metropolitan Gas Pipeline project, one of the most important in terms of energy for the region, in the first four months of 2025.
This was highlighted by Gustavo Puccini, Minister of Productive Development of Santa Fe, who assured that its construction is progressing at a good pace despite the difficulties that have arisen in recent times, linked to late payments.
"We hope that it can be finished in the first four months. It is making good progress. We did not stop the work, on the contrary. We had to solve several problems, such as debts with contractors and payments to suppliers," said Puccini, who also stressed that the gas project remains a priority for the provincial government in terms of energy infrastructure.
The six gas pipelines that Santa Fe plans to build: which cities and towns in the province will benefit
For Minister Puccini, the gas pipeline not only represents an improvement in access to energy, but also an opportunity for economic development for the region. "It is a priority for this government in terms of energy, and gas is key. The project in Santa Fe is one of the most important we have encountered, and we are committed to moving forward," he said in statements to radio LT10.
This is the project that will bring gas to the north of the city of Santa Fe and to towns on the Santa Fe coast. "The pipeline will reach the town and the towns, and then the internal development (household networks) will come. For that, we will try to make the necessary tools available to each municipality and commune," explained Puccini, who also highlighted the importance of the contribution to improvements.
Gas pipelines: benefits for residents and production
One of the main benefits that the minister highlighted is the positive impact that gas will have on both family and production costs. "The resident will really have the possibility of obtaining energy that will lower the costs of family consumption, not to mention production," said Puccini, who added that joint work with local cooperatives could also be key to ensuring that the service effectively reaches all corners of the province.
"The province is arriving with the main lines, and then, as has happened in many other projects, there will be cooperatives that begin to update themselves to provide the service, depending on each locality," explained the minister.
In addition to local works, Puccini took the opportunity to demand the reactivation of other gas pipelines that have been stopped in the province, such as the one that connects Santa Fe with the towns of Rafaela and Sunchales. "We have made a claim to the national government for the gas pipeline that has been stopped for more than five years. Works that are stopped are money that has been invested by all Argentines and that is not serving any purpose," said Puccini.
During a momentous bidding event, 8 proposals were received for the construction of 6 provincial gas pipelines
The pipeline will supply natural gas to the towns of Esperanza, Recreo, Monte Vera, Ángel Gallardo, Arroyo Aguiar, Santa Fe, San José del Rincón -including Colastiné Norte- and Arroyo Leyes, directly benefiting some 250,000 residents, 7,000 industries and businesses and 1,600 institutions that currently do not have natural gas service.
A project of this magnitude not only provides service to people who did not have it, but also favors the creation of new industries with the consequent increase in labor demand. This will be boosted by the need for gas fitters and workers who must carry out gas installations in each of the beneficiaries.
The minister asked the national government that, if it does not intend to continue with these works, the execution of the works be transferred to the province. "I have asked the Nation that, if it does not want to continue, it should be transferred to us, as we asked for with the roads, so that we can put in the missing investment, almost 10 billion pesos, to finish it. It is preferable to make this commitment and have more gas reach these productive and family sectors than for the works to be stopped. Because it is wasted money," he stressed.
Finally, Puccini also reviewed the works on the main gas pipelines that are underway in the province. "Of the 615 kilometers planned, we have already put 15 percent out to tender. In addition, one of the most important gas pipelines, the one on Route 90 in the south, has been contracted by the company Litoral Gas, which will be in charge of putting it out to tender. This is good news for everyone," concluded the minister.
