The Chinese company has signed an agreement with local company Sajalices Energy to build the Sajalices photovoltaic project. Chinas Power Construction Corporation (PowerChina) has announced an agreement with Panama-based Sajalices Energy to build the 530 MW Sajalices photovoltaic project. According to a statement, the Asian company has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a project that includes the design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, trial operation, delivery, performance testing and defect rectification of the photovoltaic field, lifting station and transmission lines. In the middle of this month, Enel Panama, through its Enel Green Power business line, announced the start of commercial operations of its Baco and Madre Vieja solar parks, each with 30 MW , both located in the Barú district, in the province of Chiriquí. In October of this year, Panamas National Energy Secretariat issued a call for tenders for short-term power and energy contracts , which provides for 60-month awards to new and existing power plants, and is open to renewable generators such as hydroelectric, wind, solar and biomass. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Panama had installed around 570 MW of solar energy by the end of 2023. |
