Work Detail Brazilian offshore driller Constellation Oil Services has bagged an extension of a contract for one of its semi-submersible drilling rigs with Petrobras. The contract extension was awarded to the Atlantic Star and is for an additional period of up to 301 days. The extension is valued at up to $61m. The 1976-built floater for plug and abandonment in the Congro, Malhado, and Albacora fields in the Campos Basin. It is expected that the rig will continue to provide those same services during the extension period. Last week, the company won a $528m, three-year deal from Petrobras for its 2012-built drillship Amaralina Star. The work scope will cover, in part, remote areas of frontier exploration, such as the Equatorial Margin and Pelotas Basin. In September, the company secured contracts for two drillships worth around $1bn. One went to the Tidal Action and the other was an extension for the Laguna Star. The deals were for two and a half years for work on the Roncador oil field starting in the third quarter of 2025. “The extension brings substantial backlog to our fleet and secures approximately 170 direct jobs, staffed entirely by Brazilian workers,” said Constellation’s CEO Rodrigo Ribeiro.
