Infinity Power, in partnership with Pele Green Energy, has secured six solar projects with a combined capacity of 1.28 GW in the Seventh Round of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). These projects will triple Infinity Power’s current generating capacity in South Africa, furthering its mission to deploy 10 GW of renewable energy across Africa by 2030.
The six Solar PV power plants, with a 51% stake held by Infinity Power and 49% by Pele Green Energy, include the 240 MW Highveld Solar in Mpumalanga, 240 MW Palladium Solar 1 in Limpopo, 240 MW Copper Solar 1 in Limpopo, 150 MW Vanadium Solar 1 in Limpopo, and the 220 MW and 190 MW Onderstepoort Solar 1 and 2 in North West Province, respectively. Once operational, these projects will significantly contribute to South Africa’s renewable energy landscape and accelerate the transition to sustainable power solutions across the continent.

Under the Programme, Infinity Power and Pele Green Energy are expected to finalize Implementation Agreements and Power Purchase Agreements with South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources and Energy and Eskom within the next eight months. Development and construction will begin shortly after these agreements are signed.
Once operational, the projects will collectively prevent approximately 3.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and create around 6,500 direct and indirect jobs during their construction and operation. Additionally, Infinity Power plans to build on its strong commitment to community investment, having already allocated over $3 million to support initiatives in South Africa, Senegal, and Egypt. These efforts reflect the company’s dedication to promoting sustainable development alongside renewable energy expansion. |
