Work Detail |
As the Efficiency Partner of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2025, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is set to highlight its pioneering projects and initiatives in sustainability, clean energy, and smart technologies. The event, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from January 14 to 16, 2025, with DEWA’s stand located in Hall 5 (Energy Hall).
Showcasing Global Milestones
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park
DEWA will present a model of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park globally using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. With a current production capacity of 2,860MW and an additional 1,800MW under construction, the park is set to contribute 27% of Dubai’s energy production capacity from clean sources by 2030.
Sustainability and Innovation Centre
Located at the solar park, DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre offers an immersive metaverse-enabled experience, showcasing cutting-edge advancements in sustainability and clean energy technologies.
Research and Development (R&D) Centre
DEWA’s R&D Centre plays a critical role in reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leader in solar power, smart grids, and energy efficiency. The centre has published 263 Scopus-indexed research papers and filed 42 patent applications, driving innovation and intellectual property protection in clean energy.
Space-D Programme
Under its Space-D programme, DEWA launched nanosatellites DEWA-SAT1 in 2022 and DEWA-SAT2 in 2023, becoming the first utility globally to use nanosatellites for operational efficiency. The programme supports the planning and management of Dubai’s electricity and water networks.
Promoting Green Mobility and Smart Energy
EV Green Charger
Since its launch in 2014, the EV Green Charger initiative has expanded to over 400 charging stations across Dubai with 740 charging points. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision of promoting green mobility and becoming the world’s smartest city.
Smart Grid Technology
DEWA’s award-winning smart grid enhances energy transmission efficiency, reduces loss, and improves electric load management. Recently, DEWA’s Distribution Automation Smart Grid projects earned the ‘Smart Grid Project of the Year – UAE’ award at the Asian Power Awards 2024.
Driving a Green Future
DEWA’s participation at WFES 2025 underscores its commitment to sustainability and innovation. By showcasing its transformative projects, DEWA aims to inspire global efforts toward a green, sustainable future and support Dubai’s vision of becoming a global hub for clean energy and sustainable development. |
