On the second day of the Pragati Yatra, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Kesaria block in East Champaran district on Tuesday, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation for 104 development projects worth Rs. 201 crore.
The local residents warmly welcomed CM Kumar’s visit, expressing their satisfaction and support for the ongoing development initiatives in the region.
During his visit, CM Kumar emphasized the success of the Jeevika programme, which has empowered rural women through self-help groups. He noted that the Jeevika concept has expanded across the nation and has been adopted by other states and the central government. He highlighted the financial empowerment it has brought to people, with the initiative now being implemented in urban areas as well, beyond its rural roots.
Following visits to Sundarpur and Sugaon villages in Kesaria block, CM Kumar inaugurated a rail overbridge at the Kachhari railway gate in Motihari, built at a cost of Rs 29.95 crore by Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited. The bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the area.
Renu Devi, the Animal and Fisheries Department Minister, also took the opportunity to criticize the opposition for failing to acknowledge the states progress. Without naming any political party, she likened the opposition to a nocturnal animal, incapable of seeing daylight and recognizing Bihar’s advancements. She pointed out that 173 roads were being constructed in her constituency alone, highlighting the state’s infrastructure improvements.
Minister Devi contrasted the current situation with the past, stating that while roads were once filled with potholes, today they are well-paved and part of an expanding network of two-lane, four-lane, and six-lane roads.
BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal also noted the transformation of Bettiah, attributing its ongoing development to his efforts and those of Minister Renu Devi. |
