British Solar Renewables (BSR) has received approval for the 49.9MW Knowl Green Solar Park in Braintree, Essex, which has a planned lifespan of 40 years.
The project’s success followed a five-week community consultation, leading to adjustments like removing construction compounds to ease traffic and planting additional trees to reduce visual impact.
Construction is set to begin in early 2026, with operations starting within 12 months.
BSR committed to a 179.96% biodiversity net gain on the 49.7-hectare site and a £49,990 community benefit fund for local groups.
“BSR is excited to have submitted a planning application following a positive consultation with the local community,” said project manager James O’Connor. “Existing habitats will be retained and managed over the development’s lifespan.”
In 2024, BSR achieved other milestones, including approvals for the 21MW Park Farm Solar Park in May and the 19MW Dengie Solar Park in June.
The company also secured funding for projects generating 132GWh annually across the UK and Australia. |
